Starting a Tutoring Business -- this guide will help you start a profitable Tutoring Business.
A great way for your older child to make money is to offer tutoring to other kids that need some help with homework and more.
Here are some quick tips for your child to get his tutoring business off the ground.
1. Decide on your main subjects. In which subjects do you naturally excel in school? Do you love math? Literature? Writing? Music? Pick one or two topics and target those areas for your tutoring business.
As with most businesses, it's easier to reach a group of people if you get specific.
What Subjects to Tutor
2. Talk to teachers in the schools in your area to let them know that you'll be offering tutoring services and leave them flyers. They can pass your name and number on to students in their classrooms that might benefit from your services.
3. Promote yourself. Create a flyer with your information. Use colored paper and a classy, professional looking font to show that you're serious. Be specific, but invite potential tutoring students (and their parents) to call you for even more specific details on how your service will work.
4. Decide on a schedule for yourself. Particularly if you are still in school you'll need to make sure your own work gets done before you're off to help the other students. Try not to overdo it in one sitting so you don't burn out too.
5. Go door-to-door and hand flyers to the parents of possible students. Let them see your face, chat with you one on one so you build up a trust level. Even if they don't have a student in your niche, if you build up that relationship with them, they may pass your name on to another parent with a child who may need you.
6. Write up a contract. A simple contract will help to make your business look more professional. Even though it's not legally binding it's a good idea to have this to cover your bases and make sure that your students, their parents and you are all on the same page.
7. Study. Use this experience to better yourself too. Teaching others is one of the best ways to learn you. Who knows, because of your tutoring business you may find yourself in a fabulous full time teaching job some day. What a great experience this will be!
